19. UN NUOVO INIZIO
(Palazzo dell’Imperatore – giorno)
E’ ormai giorno e Faythe fa ritorno al castello. La sua intenzione è chiara: convincerà il padre ad ascoltare Gabriel, l’uomo di cui si è innamorata. Nafaryus va su tutte le furie, non accetta il fatto che sua figlia si sia innamorata di un truffatore. Faythe disperata fa un nuovo tentativo, ma capisce in fretta che da sola non riuscirà mai nell’impresa. Così chiede aiuto alla madre Arabelle: l’imperatrice tenta a sua volta di placare il marito, che tuttavia non riesce a sopportare l’idea che la figlia sia stata così ingenua. Arabelle ricorda allora a Nafaryus, appellandolo ‘Bug’, che c’era un tempo in cui lui aveva gli stessi ideali della figlia, tempi in cui la Musica esisteva ancora e che lui stesso identificava come bellezza stupefacente. Faythe si illumina: Bug, ricordo sepolto della prima infanzia, figura che placava i suoi pianti con l’utilizzo della Musica, era in realtà suo padre.Nafaryus, commosso da tutto ciò, decide così di concedere una possibilità a Gabriel.
