“Maya“, il nuovo video ufficiale dei Dropshard, esce oggi in anteprima esclusiva su Metal In Italy.
“Maya” è un brano tratto da “Silk” (la recensione), ultimo acclamato lavoro in studio della prog rock band Dropshard uscito per l’etichetta inglese Sonic Vista Music.
Il pezzo, rieditato e rimasterizzato per l’occasione, rappresenta in modo molto efficace la sensibilità artistica della band, sia a livello musicale che per tematiche affrontate.
Enrico Scanu, cantante e autore dei testi, descrive così il significato della canzone:
Maya è la storia di una bambina privata della sua infanzia. Le parole raccontano di un’innocenza spezzata e di sogni infranti.”
Per la realizzazione del video è stato scelto il regista Fred Cavallini, il quale, insieme al D.O.P. Fabio Bruno, ha colto l’occasione per creare un’opera visiva che non solo rispecchiasse il significato del brano, ma che in qualche modo fosse riconducibile all’intero concept dell’album “Silk”, ovvero il velo di Maya e il dualismo tra sogno e realtà, tra ciò che l’uomo vuole vedere e ciò che realmente esiste.
Dice il regista:
La piena libertà creativa lasciatami dal gruppo e da Bitterpill Music mi ha permesso di creare una storia che sottolineasse uno dei fili conduttori dell’album “Silk”, ma che allo stesso tempo si innestasse su uno dei temi che mi sono più cari, ovvero il rapporto fra la nostra percezione, la nostra ‘verità’, e altre verità, altre realtà, altri sogni, altri universi di significato.
Quale canzone, meglio di questa, per parlare dello squarcio nel velo di Maya?
I cuori luminosi nascosti negli alberi sono archetipi, idee; non vorrei dire di più, mi piacerebbe che ognuno buttasse dentro al video un pezzo della sua realtà…”.
Il video deve la sua resa anche alla grande prova attoriale di Massimiliano De Pisapia e di Chiara Nava, nonché alla fondamentale assistenza sul set di Jodi Blandino.
