I tedeschi Ost+Front saranno in Italia per tre appuntamenti live a partire dal 12 aprile, quando saliranno sul palco del Dagda Club, proseguiranno il viaggio al Traffic Live di Roma e concluderanno all’Exenzia di Prato il 14. Alla vigilia abbiamo intercettato il carismatico cantante Hermann.
Ciao Herrmann, benvenuto sulle pagine di Metal In Italy. Potresti presentare gli Ost+Front ai nostri lettori? Quali sono gli avvenimenti principali della vostra carriera?
Ciao! Noi siamo gli Ost+Fron da Berlino. La nostra musica è spesso paragonata a quella dei Rammstein, si tratta di Industrial Rock con testi in tedesco, chitarre molto pesanti miscelate con elementi melodici. Quindi sì, siamo un po’ simili ai Rammstein. Abbiamo fatto tour in tutta Europa, credo che per noi sia la quinta volta in Italia. Amiamo suonare nei piccoli club come ai grandi festival
“Adrenalin” è il vostro ultimo album, quali sono le principali differenze con il precedente? E, ovviamente, ci sono dei punti in comune?
Abbiamo cambiato studio, l’ultimo album è stato registrato e masterizzato ai Fascination Studios in Svezia, dove altre band quali Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy, Kreator or At The Gates hanno mixato i loro album. Le prime tre release avevano un buon sound, ma quella di adesso è molto più pesante.
Per quanto riguarda i testi, quali sono i temi che trattate principalmente? Pensate che attraverso la musica sia possibile veicolare un messaggio?
I testi sono abbastanza tetri e disturbanti, con tanto umorismo nero, ci sono tante tematiche differenti, dal cannibalismo alla necrofilia, passando per tutti i tipi di sessualità, spesso miscelati tra loro. Ma abbiamo anche tanti liriche di critica sociale.
Come stanno reagendo i fan ai nuovi brani? Quanti di questi sono nella setlist attuale?
I fan adorano i nuovi pezzi e ciò ci rende molto felici. Attualmente abbiamo cinque nuovi brani nel nostro set.
Gli Ost+Front sono caratterizzati da un’immagine molto forte, con face painting, maschere, costumi. Pensi che per una band sia importante essere riconosciuta anche dall’immagine e non solo dalla musica?
Dipende dalla musica. Noi suoniamo Shock Rock e quindi vogliamo dare uno shock anche visivo a chi viene ai nostri concerti. Non si riduce il tutto a suonare musica, è uno spettacolo. Un po’ come Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie o Alice Cooper.
Come descriveresti i vostri live show?
Ci sarà un sacco di sangue.
Sarete in Italia per tre live, ma non è la prima volta per voi nel nostro Paese. Cosa vi aspettate da queste date?
Come ti dicevo, per noi è la quinta volta in Italia. Le persone sono molto amichevoli ed il cibo è veramente buono, i concerti sono sempre molto caldi. Il tuo Paese è assolutamente fantastico.
I Junkie Dildoz condivideranno con voi la data del 14 all’Exenzia di Prato. Cosa pensi di questa band?
Li ho ascoltati su YouTube e sono un grande band, mi piacciono!

Hi Hermann, welcome to Metal In Italy. Could you please introduce Ost+Front to our readers? What are the main events of your career?
Hi, we are Ost+front from Berlin. Our music is often compared with the music of Rammstein. It’s Industrial rock with german lyrics. Heavy guitars mixed with great melodies. So yes its a bit similar to Rammstein. We tour all across europe. I think its now our fifth time Italy. We love small club gigs as well as huge festival shows.
“Adrenalin” is your last effort, what are the main differences between this album and the previous one? And, of course, are there any features in common?
We changed the studio. The last album was mixed and mastered at fascination street studios in Sweden. Some great bands like Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy, Kreator or At the gates mixed their albums there, too. The first three albums where really good sounding but now its heavier. Very much on point.
Talking about the lyrics, what are the main themes of them? Do you think that music is a good way to spread a message?
The lyrics are mostly quiet dark and disturbing with a lot of very dark humor. Lots of different themes you can find. From cannibalism and necrophilia to all kinds of sexuality often all mixed together. But we have a lot of sociocritical lyrics, too.
How are fan reacting to the new songs? And how many of them are in the current setlist?
They love it. And that makes us very happy. We have 5 new songs in the new set.
Ost+Front are characterized by a really strong image, with face painting, masks, costumes. Do you think that is important for a band to be recognized by its image and not only by the music played?
It depends on the music. We play shock rock and so we give the audience a visual shock, too.
Its not just playing music. Its a show. Like Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie or Alice Cooper.
How would you describe your live shows?
There will be a lot of blood.
You will come to Italy for three live shows, but it’s not the first time for you to come to our country. What are your expectations?
Like i said its the fifth time i think. We are big fans of Italy. The peoples are very friendly and the food is so great. The shows always have such a warm feeling. Your country is absolutely great.
Junkie Dildoz will be share stage with at the Exenzia Der Club. What do you think about this band?
I listened to them on youtube. Its a great band. I like it.
