“South Of Heaven” è il quarto album in studio degli Slayer, pubblicato il 5 luglio del 1988, il secondo della band con il produttore Rick Rubin, il cui intervento sul precedente “Reign In Blood” aveva contribuito all’evoluzione del sound.
Fu il secondo album della band ad entrare nella classifica Billboard 200, l’ultimo ad essere pubblicato da Def Jam Recordings, anche se l’album divenne American Recordings dopo che Rick Rubin terminò la sua collaborazione con Russell Simmons. La release raggiunse la posizione 57 e nel 1992 venne certificato disco d’oro dalla RIAA.
